This Week's Trading Card Releases: 11th to 15th May

It's another busy week in the hobby with multiple big releases. Topps NFL returns with its second licensed football product since reclaiming the league licence, baseball's premier prospecting set lands for 2026, and basketball gets two major drops in a single day. Add in a World Cup-themed Noir release, a WNBA Select set headlined by Paige Bueckers, the collegiate-focused Bowman Best University, and an unlicensed Donruss basketball entry from Panini, and there is genuinely something for every type of collector this week.

2025 Topps Finest Football Release date: 15th May

2025 Topps Finest Football marks a major return for one of the hobby's most recognisable chromium brands. For the first time since 2015, Finest Football is back in fully licensed NFL form, giving collectors a product that leans into both modern hobby structure and the brand's long-running visual identity.

Each Hobby box contains six packs of ten cards, with an expected two autographs, eleven parallels, and ten inserts. Breaker Delight single-pack boxes are also available, averaging three autographs and six parallels.

The 300-card base set is broken into three tiers — Common, Uncommon, and Rare — each with its own design and parallel rainbow. Autographs and inserts are hallmarks of a modern Finest release, and this product follows the trend with new designs and old favourites. Finest Autographs lay the signature foundation for veterans and rookies, while Finest Greats Autographs give legends their own dedicated checklist. Finest Moments, which started as inserts back in 2000, return for the first time since 2013.

Finest Moments Autographs spotlight specific points from a player's career, with a 26-card checklist featuring names such as Brock Bowers, Bo Jackson, Bo Nix, Brock Purdy, CJ Stroud, Caleb Williams, Devin Hester, Drake Maye, Dak Prescott, Ed Reed, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Peyton Manning, Randy Moss, Saquon Barkley and T.J. Watt. Finest Fans Autographs adds a crossover celebrity element with names including Anne Hathaway, DJ Khaled, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry.

Retro vibes continue with Finest Freshman Autographs, which recycle the design from 1996 Finest Football — the first-ever tiered Finest set. Flashback Autographs reference the 2006 Finest design. Among the short-printed insert chases is the Finest Landmark Metal Series, modelled after the original 1995 set that was printed on metal and bronze, alongside Centurions, The Man, Headliners, and the NFL debut of Nightmare Fuel.

For breakers, one of the biggest rookie chases is Jaxson Dart, whose Superfractor autograph features unique inscriptions including "Big Blue," a smiley face, and his jersey number alongside his signature. Other key names include Cam Ward, Ashton Jeanty and Shedeur Sanders on the rookie side, with stars such as Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jefferson and Barkley across the autograph sets.

2025-26 Topps NBA Hoops Basketball Release date: 14th May

The NBA Hoops trading card brand lives on thanks to 2025-26 Topps NBA Hoops Basketball, continuing the product line that originally debuted for the 1989-90 season. Previously under the Panini banner for many years, Topps now takes the reins of the well-known series after acquiring the exclusive NBA trading card licence.

Each Hobby box offers one autograph across 20 packs, while Jumbo boxes guarantee two autographs across ten packs. Hobby boxes were available during presales from 14th April at around £205. The product features the highly productive 2025-26 rookie class, with Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel standing out above the rest. An early look at the box art confirms Flagg, Dylan Harper, and Ace Bailey as cover athletes.

Just as in prior years, the 300-card base set features top veterans and rookies, with an array of parallels available to chase across all formats. Alongside the rookie class, the veteran checklist pulls in Luka Dončić, LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokić, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ja Morant, Paolo Banchero, Cade Cunningham, and Tyrese Haliburton.

The autograph chase is headlined by the 1989 Signatures set — a throwback to the original Hoops design. The checklist spans decades, taking in David Robinson, Allen Iverson, Dirk Nowitzki, Hakeem Olajuwon, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, Paolo Banchero, Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey, Kon Knueppel, and Khaman Maluach. Rookie Signatures covers the full incoming class, while multi-signed content adds further chase appeal. A dual autograph pairing Flagg with former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel is among the standout combo pulls in the product, as is a Rookie Veteran Dual featuring Dylan Harper alongside 2024 Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle.

On the insert side, Finals Pursuit chronicles the 2025 NBA Playoffs round by round with each card numbered to 2,025 copies, with the champion Oklahoma City Thunder represented through Team, Player, and SSP Finals MVP cards numbered even further. Hoopnotic and Oasis are the Hobby case-hit chases, while Dunk-umentory showcases top dunkers from across eras on a movie-style design. Retail-exclusive case hits Block by Block and Boom Shaka Laka bring their own chase to that side of the market, alongside Hyper Signatures and Rookie First Signs — meaning retail formats carry genuine autograph value beyond parallels alone.

2026 Bowman Baseball Release date: 13th May

2026 Bowman Baseball is the season's first prospect-focused release, built around coveted 1st Bowman cards that deliver the hobby's first look at baseball's next wave of stars. Collectors can expect one autograph per Hobby box and three in every Jumbo box.

Topps presales came on 13th April, featuring Hobby boxes at around £190, Jumbo boxes at around £410, and Value Blasters at around £23. Breaker Delight boxes with two autographs are also available, alongside a Mega Box format with exclusive content.

The 100-card base paper set features established MLB stars and emerging rookies, alongside a 150-card Bowman Prospect set. Short-printed Bowman Red Rookie Card variations make their second appearance after a successful launch in 2025. These cards can be redeemed for Fanatics FanCash if a player meets certain career milestones.

In total, there are 87 signers, with 76 of these being 1st Bowman autographs. A Gold Ink Variation (/15) returns from 2025 Bowman Draft, and the all-new Chrome Prospect PackFractor Variation (/89) takes inspiration from the 1989 Bowman Baseball packaging.

Among the returning insert concepts, Anime inserts are back — including versions with a World Baseball Classic twist, showcasing certain players representing their home country. Bowman Spotlights, Crystallized, and new concepts, Patchwork and Electric Sluggers, also feature in this year's set.

The headlining prospect chases are Ethan Holliday, the fourth overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, and Aiva Arquette. Chrome Rookie Autographs feature names including Chase Burns, Roman Anthony, Jac Caglianone, and Munetaka Murakami, while dual autograph pairings include Alex Bregman with Bobby Witt Jr.

2025 Panini Select WNBA Basketball

Following a successful launch last year, the 2025 Panini Select WNBA marks a return of the popular tiered chromium brand to the women's hardwood. With a large base set, a multitude of colourful parallels, and plenty of chase elements, the product hits on many favourites of modern collectors. Collectors can expect to find three autographs or memorabilia cards and twelve Prizm parallels in every Hobby box.

The 2025 Panini Select WNBA Basketball checklist is led by 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers, alongside other top rookies, WNBA veterans and retired greats. New parallels this year include Jazz Prizms, White Disco Prizms, and Pink Camo Prizms (/175).

Draft Selections Signatures showcase players holding their new jerseys shortly after being selected in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Courtside Action Signatures feature both a portrait and in-game photo, and Select Pairings Signatures deliver horizontal dual-signed cards. New to the product are Score Select Throwback inserts, inspired by a baseball design made iconic by Derek Jeter's 1993 Select rookie card. The top SSP chase is Black Colour Blast, a darkened twist on the brand's popular insert using an exploding cloud of rainbow-coloured dust.

Panini has also confirmed Mystery Redemptions for five top rookies — Dominique Malonga, Hailey Van Lith, Kiki Iriafen, Paige Bueckers, and Sonia Citron — each good for a random National Treasures Rookie Patch Autographs card.

2025-26 Panini Noir Road to FIFA World Cup Soccer

With the 2026 World Cup just weeks away, the premium card market is heating up around it. 2025-26 Panini Noir Road to FIFA World Cup '26 Soccer gives fans a high-end look at top national teams ahead of the global event taking place in Canada, Mexico and the United States. This marks the first World Cup edition of the Noir brand, joining Donruss among the Road to releases.

The configuration stays true to the quality-over-quantity approach that Noir fans have come to expect. Each Hobby box contains just one pack of ten cards, with cases made up of three boxes. Every box is guaranteed to contain three autograph cards and two memorabilia cards, alongside two base cards and three cards that are either parallels or inserts.

The 200-card base set features both vertical and horizontal looks at top international talent from around the world, with coloured parallels and framed versions also available. Among the prominent signers are Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Zinedine Zidane, and Christian Pulisic. Panini has secured autographs from players across five continents.

New autograph concepts first seen in Noir NBA — NEONoir and Showrunner Signatures — make their debut here alongside the returning Showtime Signatures series. For collectors and breakers with an eye on the World Cup calendar, this is the premium gateway product of the build-up season.

2025-26 Bowman Best University Basketball Release date: 15th May

2025-26 Bowman Best University Basketball chronicles the collegiate men's and women's seasons and gives collectors — in some cases — one of their last looks at a player in their college colours. Known for its flashy designs and abundance of signatures, the product is a prospector favourite and once again includes many familiar elements. Collectors can expect four total signatures per box — three autographs and one autographed patch card.

Topps presales are slated for 21st April, with Hobby boxes priced at around £215. Each box contains four packs of ten cards across a 100-card base checklist, with all players having several Refractor variations available.

Among the top names on the checklist are AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Caleb Wilson, Sarah Strong, Madison Booker, and JuJu Watkins. The ink flows directly onto cards in the Best of 2025 Autographs, the most common signatures found in the product. Other signed sets include Coaches Ink, Greatness Awaits Autographs, Iso Signatures, Dual Autographs, and Triple Autographs. On the memorabilia side, Jumbo Relic Autographs and Game Graphs — which uses game-used relics — feature prominently.

Common insert finds returning this year include Bowman Masterpieces and Breaking Barriers, alongside Let's Go, a staple across many Topps Chrome products. Debuting case hits include Top Billing and Big Energy.

2025-26 Donruss Basketball Release date: 13th May

Though Topps took over as the exclusive licensed basketball card manufacturer for the 2025-26 season, Panini has remained on the court. Among its first releases in this new chapter is the continuation of one of its most popular flagship sets — 2025-26 Donruss Basketball. The cards are not fully licensed, so they carry only player names and team cities rather than full logos and team nicknames, but the product continues to deliver on many of the collector favourites it has built since 2014-15.

The Hobby format undergoes a major overhaul, reducing the overall box count from 300 to 96 cards while increasing the number of autographs to three — up from last season's one per box. The main card series doubles up with Base and Optic editions, each with its own set of parallels.

Familiar inserts return in Net Marvels, Swish, Unleashed, and Zero Gravity, alongside new Elite Series cards making their first appearance since 2016-17. Super short prints include Night Moves, Downtown — making the jump from Donruss Optic into the flagship brand — and Slammy. All inserts and insert parallels combine to average eight per Hobby box.

Panini has also introduced a brand-new Premier Logo that will appear on the first cards issued of prospects who have signed an NIL deal with the company. Autographed content includes the on-card Pen Pals line, which has been a feature of Donruss Elite for years. Notably, the checklist includes autographs for V.J. Edgecombe — a top pick who does not have signed cards in Topps' NBA sets — making Donruss one of the few places collectors can find his ink this season.
