This Week in Trading Cards: Everything Dropping This Coming Week

It's a big week in the hobby, with six major releases spanning baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, and wrestling all hitting shelves within days of each other. Baseball is firmly in the spotlight this week with not one but two landmark products landing simultaneously. Whether you're a breaker, a PC collector, or watching the market, here's your full breakdown of what's dropping this week and what to know before you buy.

2025 Topps Royalty WWE Wrestling

Release Date: May 1

2025 Topps Royalty WWE Wrestling makes its debut in the squared circle, bringing the premium Royalty brand — already established in UFC, Tennis, and Basketball — to wrestling for the first time. Every box contains eight hits, including six autographs and two relic cards.

The base set runs 100 cards covering current standouts, rising young talent, and legends of the past. Every base card is numbered to /99 and features a regal design with a marbled background and ornate filigree foil accents.

Autograph sets include Golden Hall, Imperial Ink, Influential Ink, Pillars of Greatness Signatures, Superior Signatures, and Royalty Autographs — many featuring inscriptions. Rarer multi-signed options include Dual Autographs, Crowning Achievements, Ring Royalty, Royal Decree, and The Coronation, all capped at 25 copies or fewer.

When it comes to the big chases, collectors will be zeroing in on a handful of names. Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Rhea Ripley are among the current era names generating the most secondary market heat, while legend autographs from the likes of The Undertaker, Trish Stratus, and Shawn Michaels will be among the hardest cards to land and likely among the most valuable when they surface.

The card that has the entire hobby talking, however, is the John Cena 1/1 WrestleMania Patch Autograph. Topps themselves teased it on social media ahead of release, and it is easy to see why — the match-used patch embedded in the card comes from WrestleMania 41, the night Cena made history by capturing his record-breaking 17th WWE Championship, surpassing Ric Flair to become the most decorated champion in WWE history. A signed, 1/1 card containing actual match-worn memorabilia from that moment is the kind of piece that transcends the hobby and becomes a genuine piece of sports entertainment history. Comparisons are already being drawn to the biggest Rookie Debut Patch Autographs in baseball, with some suggesting this card could command five to six figures on the secondary market when it surfaces. It is, without question, the grail of this entire release.

On the relic side, wrestler-specific lines include 100 Percent Stratusfaction (/25), The Deadman (/25), and U Can't See Me (/25) — with The Deadman line notably featuring match-used casket lining from the Undertaker, which is the kind of unique memorabilia that makes Royalty stand apart from standard WWE releases.

A four-box case is priced at approximately £4,350.

2025-26 Topps Cosmic Chrome Basketball

Release Date: April 29

This marks the first fully licensed version of the Cosmic Chrome brand on the hardwood. The product delivers many exciting themes based on the wonders of outer space, with a 200-card base set featuring outer space-themed accents and a full galaxy of parallels.

The checklist spans generations, featuring top rookies Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, and Dylan Harper, superstars LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Victor Wembanyama, and legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Carmelo Anthony.

All autographs are hand-signed. New autograph sets this year include Alien Autographs, Electro Static Signatures, and Singularity Signatures, while First Flight Autographs make their return.

On the insert side, returning sets include Extraterrestrial Talent and Galaxy Greats. New additions include Propulsion, Space Walk, and rare numbered inserts like Geocentric and Re-Entry. Case hits include Cosmic Dust, Hypernova, and Planetary Pursuit — a full solar system card collection.

Ahead of the main hobby release, the First Day Issue boxes sold out via Dutch Auction on March 27, starting at approximately £1,280 and ending at around £1,240. Hobby boxes are priced at approximately £465.

2026 Topps Chrome Black Baseball

Release Date: April 29

Chrome Black is back for another season, bringing its signature dark, sleek aesthetic to the MLB chromium landscape. The base set has grown again this year, now sitting at 200 cards — the second straight year of an increase. More than a quarter of the checklist is made up of rookies, joined by the top veterans in the game.

Each hobby box contains two six-card packs plus an encased on-card autograph as the 13th card, with one parallel guaranteed per pack.

On the autograph front, familiar sets like Depth of Darkness, Pitch Black Dual Pairings, and Super Future Autographs return, joined by newcomers Damascus and Paint It Autographs. Paint It is an all-new set of 19 cards numbered to just 10 copies each, featuring signatures in white paint pen on a black background for a striking contrast.

There's also a new insert worth noting: the short-printed Home Field insert, which debuted in Topps flagship last year, makes its Chrome Black debut — featuring a unique technology to bring new life to the chase.

On the player side, all eyes will be on Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox, who is shaping up to be one of the biggest pulls in the product. The Japanese slugger's cards have generated serious collector interest and his Chrome Black entries will be among the most sought-after singles from this release. Elsewhere, the rookie chase is very much alive, with Roman Anthony and Jac Caglianone both carrying strong momentum from earlier 2026 releases — collectors will be hunting their Chrome Black cards hard.

For collectors eyeing the secondary market, the high end is clearly there. Last year's Paul Skenes Super Futures Autograph fetched approximately £16,000, while a Nick Kurtz Refractor Auto /10 sold for approximately £7,800. One auto per box with 12 other cards keeps the odds long, but the ceiling is real.

2025 Topps Chrome Football — Mega Box

Release Date: May 1

While hobby and jumbo formats of 2025 Topps Chrome Football dropped on April 15, the Mega Box hits retail shelves on May 1 — and for collectors who haven't jumped in yet, this is a very strong entry point. This marks the first fully licensed version of Topps Chrome Football since 2015, ending a decade-long absence from the gridiron, and the energy around this release has been unlike anything the football hobby has seen in years.

Each Mega Box contains 42 cards across seven packs, with seven rookies and a stack of parallels guaranteed per box. There are no guaranteed autographs, but the Mega Box more than makes up for it with a suite of format-exclusive parallels. Every box delivers six standard X-Fractors, three Hot Pink X-Fractors, and one Lime Green X-Fractor — none of which can be found in hobby configurations. Pulsar Refractors also fall exclusively in the Mega format, giving the retail box a real identity of its own beyond just a budget-friendly break.

On the rookie front, the 2025 class is stacked and this is where Chrome Football really shines. Cam Ward, the number one overall pick, is the headline name and leads a 100-card rookie subset that also includes Jaxson Dart, Tetairoa McMillan, Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, Shedeur Sanders, and Luther Burden III. Dart and Ward are particularly notable as Topps holds exclusive licensed autograph rights for both players, meaning Chrome is the only place to find their official licensed signatures in pack form. For those who missed the hobby release or simply want more rookie content at an accessible price point, the Mega Box is the move this week.

Beyond the rookies, chase autographs across the broader Chrome Football product include legends Tom Brady and Barry Sanders, current stars Josh Allen and Jahmyr Gibbs, and the headline grail cards — the Rookie PREM1ERE Patch Autographs, which feature patches worn by players during their first official NFL regular-season game. These 1/1 cards are the football equivalent of baseball's Rookie Debut Patch Autographs, and they are expected to command serious numbers on the secondary market whenever they surface.

2025-26 Panini Select Serie A Soccer

Release Date: April 29

The stars of Italian club football unite for another season in 2025-26 Panini Select Serie A Soccer. The tried-and-true Select hobby format offers three hits per box, including autographs or relics. All 20 current Serie A teams are represented.

The base set runs 250 cards and follows the classic three-tiered structure — Terrace, Mezzanine, and Field Level — with parallels that grow increasingly scarce through each tier. New parallel options this year include Panini Logo and Pandora Prizms.

New for this year are four super-rare limited inserts: Stained Glass, Artistic Impressions, Visionary, and Team Badges, each falling at roughly one per case. New autograph sets include Select Few Signatures, Select Stars Signatures, and Select Pairings.

The autograph lineup features names like Kevin De Bruyne, Luka Modric, Michel Platini, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Zinedine Zidane. For collectors who focus on the Italian game, this is a must-watch release.

2025 Topps Definitive Baseball

Release Date: April 29

Release Date: April 29

When it comes to a premium collecting experience, 2025 Topps Definitive Baseball lives up to its name. Every card in the product is either a numbered autograph or a premium relic card, and all autographs are on-card. Hobby boxes are loaded with six autographs or autographed relic cards, plus two additional relic cards — eight hits total.

The product carries a price tag of $2,499.99 per box, with presales going through an EQL raffle.

Definitive returns for a ninth edition with highlights including World Series Baseball Relic autographs, quad autos, autograph Ultra Patch Collection cards, rookie autographs, rookie patch autos, and more — all built around "a clean, gold-accented design that reflects the weight of every pull."

Memorabilia cards fall two per box, with standout themes including Definitive MLB Logo Patches — an 87-card set featuring a logo patch from current stars, rookies, and fan favourites from the past. American League Rookie of the Year Nick Kurtz is among the top names in the rookie autograph lineup.

This one is not for the faint of wallet, but for the collector who wants nothing but hits, Definitive remains the benchmark.

2025-26 Upper Deck Credentials Hockey

Release Date: April 29

Billed as "The Home of the Debut Ticket Access Hard-Signed Rookie Autograph Cards," 2025-26 Upper Deck Credentials Hockey marks the sixth season of the NHL brand. Each hobby box averages one autograph, 10 inserts, and five numbered cards or limited parallels.

The 150-card base set includes 100 veteran cards and 50 Debut Ticket Access (DTA) rookie cards numbered to 999. Every hobby box averages at least three numbered DTA cards.

This year's edition features a design overhaul, moving away from the ticket-like appearance of previous sets, though the Debut Ticket Access rookie subset remains central to the product.

New inserts for this year include Bright Cellys showcasing celebrations, Sensational Youth highlighting young talent, Sparks of Greatness for rising stars, and Standing on Their Head focused on top goaltenders. Other debuts include Access Point, Now Starting, and Team Tags.

Star veterans like Connor McDavid, Alex Ovechkin, and Leon Draisaitl headline the signed content, with hard-signed rookie autos available all the way down to Black 1/1 parallels. Hobby boxes are priced at approximately £95.

All release dates are subject to change. Prices are approximate and converted from USD to pounds sterling. Always verify availability with your local hobby shop or preferred retailer before purchase.
